PLANT MATTER

Plant matter such as Ivy and Japanese Knotweed could be a cause of damp, these invasive plants attach themselves to your brickwork and crumble the brickwork and pointing, allowing water to enter the property, Once it takes hold it is difficult to remove without damaging the property further, hence professional removal is necessary.

How do I know if it is Japanese Knotweed?

Japanese knotweed can be identified by its distinct features:

  • Heart or shovel-shaped leaves

  • Zig-zag stem pattern

  • Clusters of creamy white flowers in late summer/early autumn.

The stems are bamboo-like, often with reddish-purple speckles, and the plant emerges as reddish-purple shoots in spring.
